Our Disaster Response Team Keeps Public Spaces Beautiful in Washington
Whether you’re with Port Authority or you’ve taken a stroll in one of our parks recently, you know the importance of keeping our public spaces safe and clean.
At Bio Clean, we appreciate the dangers our community faces from decontaminates in public places. To mitigate the danger, we are trained and certified to handle a wide variety of issues such as:
- Transient Encampment Cleanup
- Park Cleanup
- Public Bathroom Decontamination
- Port Biohazardous Waste Disposal
- Bird Droppings Cleanup
Our team is certified and we meet and exceed regulations. We remove and disinfect areas that have been exposed to medical waste, fecal matter, sewage, pests, rodents, sharps, drugs, and more.
For ports such as that in Bellingham, we also remove and dispose of waste from overseas journeys. We clean up fecal matter and urine from stowaways on container ships, in public bathrooms that have been misused, and from improvised bathrooms in transient encampments.
Often, the homeless will leave behind not only their trash but also create their own bathroom by digging a shallow hole in the ground. They will use that area until it becomes full, then place cardboard over the top and move on to a new spot to repeat the same process. It is important that these bodily fluids be cleaned by professionals to ensure the safety of the public. We also remove any hypodermic needles or sharps and dispose of them properly.
We are licensed, insured, and bonded and our team is highly trained and experienced when it comes to cleaning up transient encampments. We abide by strict guidelines of the regulatory department when it comes to transient encampment cleanup and we work closely with the government municipality, law enforcement, and Department of Transportation (DOT) to ensure a proper and through job is completed. It is important to understand that the homeless have rights to their belongings so we bag and properly store their items at the DOT until they are able to retrieve them within the 45 day window.
Most often, we clean up transient encampments that were under freeway overpasses, in vacant lots, in vacant buildings, and around our communities. Contact us today to discuss the specific problem you’re facing in your area.
Bio Clean offers port waste disposal services across the state, and particularly in the Greater Seattle area, Tacoma, Anacortes, Olympia, and Bellingham. We are trained and certified to properly dispose of waste from overseas. Our team is equipped to handle potentially infectious garbage and waste and the critters that may be living in the waste.
Additionally, we are also equipped to decontaminate container ships with stowaways. If a stowaway was on your ship, then there is a risk for biohazardous materials. Often, stowaways improvise a bathroom so they aren’t found while traveling.
Beyond the potential for fecal matter and urine, there could be other potentially hazardous microbes as a result of a stowaway. Disease, sharps, bloodborne pathogens, and more are possible.
We are experienced in working with governmental agencies to improve our public spaces. Whatever your exact needs, we can help you. We are experienced, licensed, insured, and bonded. In addition to our team, we are part of a network of professionals; so we can scale to any size required to meet your needs.
Bird and bat droppings can cause illness in humans. The most dangerous aspect of bird and bat droppings isn’t the pathogens carried in the excrement, but rather the organisms and erosion that can develop in an area rich with bird droppings. Histoplasmosis, psittacosis, and other diseases are a result of fungus growing in the nutrient-rich accumulation of bird droppings. Additionally, parasites, bacteria, and other fungi may be present in bird droppings.
Histoplasmosis is an infection caused mainly by bat and bird droppings and can infect humans if they have inhaled spores from these types of droppings. Symptoms are similar to the flu such as fever, cough, fatigue, chills, headache, chest pain and body aches. For most people, histoplasmosis goes away on its own with in a few weeks to a month. Severe cases can last much longer.
Psittacosis is an infectious disease caused by the inhalation of bird droppings, secretions, or dust from feathers of birds such as pigeons. Symptoms in humans include fever, headache, chills, and possible pneumonia. Psittacosis is treated with antibiotics and usually clears up 10 to 14 days after the fever resolves.
If there is a space on your property where birds often go to roost, then erosion of the surface catching their droppings is also a possibility. Bird droppings can speed up the erosion of metals such as steel, and permanently damage wood, drywall, concrete, grout, and more.
Public parks where there are bridges, benches under trees, playgrounds, pavilions and in our area docks out to the water are areas where bird droppings can accumulate and become a public safety. Apartment complexes are also a well known for bird dropping accumulation. Bio Clean can come and rid these areas of any hazardous bird droppings in order to keep the public safe.
